The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Washington Dulles International Airport is the companion facility to the Museum on the National Mall. The building provides enough space for the Smithsonian to display the thousands of aviation and space artifacts that cannot be exhibited on the National Mall. The two sites together showcase the largest collection of aviation and space artifacts in the world. The Center also offers the Airbus IMAX Theater, flight simulators and daily educational programs.
The Reston Zoo is a 30 acre family friendly zoo located in Fairfax County. Kids will enjoy seeing exotic animals, taking wagon rides, touching and feeding the friendly animals in the petting barn, and many other animal encounters including a free-flight aviary and reptile house. The zoo is closed on Thanksgiving Day and closes for the winter from November 28, 2011 thru March 12, 2012.
